Hi, I’m Angela Maya Campbell, a teacher and therapist from Scotland, now living in Brisbane. My purpose in writing Truly Thinking is to draw on my many years of experience and research into positive reflection and use this knowledge to help others ‘wake up from the appearance of their lives.’
I have been extremely fortunate in the knowledge and wisdom that has been given to me over the years, although I haven’t always been lucky enough to realise what has been placed before me, let alone utilise it. However, I remember being told as a child to “question everything and don’t accept things at face value” and it was from these very words that my love of philosophical thought began. As a teenager, I could never understand the reason for dogma or discrimination, it was against the very fundamentals of logical thought. My argumentative side had me labelled a rebel before very long!
My love of engaging in critical thinking and philosophical dialogue eventually led me into teaching it for 14 years and after a time, it led to me to the realisation that wisdom can only go so far without compassion. In our lives, having compassion towards ourselves and seeing our thoughts for what they are is the first step. Life needs a balance of both and it begins with this realisation.
This is Truly Thinking.
